Do You Smell What I Smell?
This week I chose to try my luck on a butt skunk pattern. My son helped me choose the hook and materials. I do not know why the pattern is called butt skunk, but it apparently works wonders for the trout in Idaho.
This new occupation has become almost a daily stress reliever. It is something I look forward to doing. It has engaged my hands and allows me to bond with my son. as far as being autonomous versus controlled, it has been both. At first fly tying was hard and made me resent doing it. Now that I have practiced, the art of it has become something I am looking forward to every day.

Great job Glenn! Funny name, but it looks like you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think led to the transition of fly tying feeling controlled to being autonomously motivated? When do you think that happened?
As previously stated, the use of my hands and keeping them occupied is the biggest driver. After that would be the idea that its more fun to tie a fly than it is to type a paper or memorize anatomy.
